My Middle School Program for Incoming Sixth Graders

Sycamore Middle School will host two “My Middle School” sessions this summer to help students transition from elementary school to middle school. During the program, students will: 

• Meet a few new classmates before the school year begins;
• Learn to navigate the building and use combination locks;
• Hear from guest speakers for an inside perspective about what SMS has to offer; 
• And more!

Math Supplement Opportunities

In an effort to provide awareness of the learning journey your student is on relative to some of the most important mathematical concepts, our math team is sharing some helpful visual learning progressions. These progressions represent how initial exposures to mathematics are built upon through the years. These videos are meant to both clarify and support your understanding as parents of how your student's thinking is advancing mathematically. If you find a particular progression video of interest, know that the goal is to highlight the building blocks that create a mathematician in every student. There is no homework or anything extra we are asking of you as parents, just to simply share the road teachers are traveling with your students on their way to a deep understanding of these concepts. Internet Support

Federal aid is now available specifically to help families pay for high-speed internet service, plus a computer or tablet. It’s called the Emergency Broadband Benefit, and it provides discounts of up to $50 a month for high-speed internet along with a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet purchased through a participating provider.  

Households qualify if anyone in the household is eligible for the free and reduced-price school lunch or breakfast programs; participates in SNAP, Medicaid, or Lifeline; received a Federal Pell Grant this year; or lost significant income due to furlough or job loss since Feb. 29, 2020.
